The Pass It On Project

The Pass It On Project

Dir. Melissa Nicolardi, USA, 2011, 46 min, Documentary
Special Guests include students & teachers featured in the film, as well as filmmaker Melissa Nicolardi & producer Kalim Armstrong.

During the summer following Obama’s historic election victory, a group of Brooklyn students and their two teachers take a road trip through the South to visit the sites of the Civil Rights Movement, and learn about the struggle from some of Movement’s surviving leaders. THE PASS IT ON PROJECT follows the students and teachers as they leave the familiar environments of home and classroom to embark on what each hopes will be a transformative journey. Told through the eyes of the students and teachers, and interweaving the accounts of surviving Civil Rights activists, The Pass It On Project is a coming of age story that explores issues of education, race, history and civil rights through characters that span three generations.
